Antique cast iron basket of flowers doorstop featuring original or old polychrome painted decoration. Subject: A double-handled or arched-handle basket filled with a textured bouquet of flowers and leaves on a wide, flat pedestal base. Material & Finish: Heavy molded cast iron with remnants of polychrome cold-paint (yellow, blue, and green glazes over dark iron). Date: Early-to-mid 20th century (c. 1910s–1930s). Manufacturers: Popularized by American foundries of the period such as Hubley Manufacturing Co. (Lancaster, PA), Albany Foundry, Bradley & Hubbard, and National Foundry.
